FAQ + Care

  • Handmade in Jacksonville, Florida, Hemmaliv Ceramics are wheel thrown using durable stoneware and finished with food-safe glazes. While we aim for consistency, each piece bears the mark of individuality. There will be subtle variations in glaze and texture, as well as slight imperfections like delicate flecks or minor pinholes. These marks celebrate the authenticity of handmade ceramics. Embracing the beauty of these inherent differences, each item becomes a cherished, one-of-a-kind creation.

  • With proper care, Hemmaliv Ceramics are made to last. While they are dishwasher safe, preserving their finish and preventing potential chipping is best achieved through gentle handwashing. Take extra care with pieces featuring thinner walls, as they are more susceptible to chipping. The winterwood glaze is our only matte glaze which requires more care. Products with matte glaze can be more prone to showing marks from wear so keep this in mind when using.

Ceramics retain heat, handle them delicately.

Steer clear of sudden temperature fluctuations, as this can cause cracking or breaking.
